Lovage is sometimes referred to as "the love parsley" because
of its aphrodisiac qualities. This herb has been used in the past
as a deodorant (also an attractive quality!)- in fact it was put in
shoes to prevent sweaty feet from smelling. The seeds and roots have
also been known to have medicinal qualities in ancient times.

and has ribbed U-shaped stems. The leaves are a dark and shiny green
and it has a stout 6 inch root. Its small flowers are in an umbel

While lovage thrives in the mild Southern winters, it often does
not survive the hot humid summers and may require a fresh round of
plants come next autumn. It is best to plant in the fall, as it does
excellent during the winter months. For best results year round, use
an excellent rich soil.
